Elaine~
Elaine started photography as a hobby many years ago. In 2000 she decided to change careers and took her love of photography to a whole new level and opened up Steen Photography on main street in Britton, South Dakota. It is evident in her photography that it is truly her passion. After photographing families for many years, she has become almost like a part of the family, watching the children grow and change. She is able to give a unique spin to photography, while at the same time never sacrificing quality. Elaine prides herself on staying on the cutting edge, therefore continuing her education on many different levels.
In 2003 she was awarded the SD Fellowship Degree. In 2004 she was tested and is now one of only four certified photographers in SD. She earned her Master Craftsman from the Professional Photographers of America in 2007 and in 2008 earned the Master of Photography Degree. This degree is one of the most coveted degrees a photographer can receive. We are so proud of her. Elaine serves as President of the South Dakota Professional Photographers Association and is a council member to the PPA representing South Dakota on the national council.
Elaine believes that a professional portrait is a gift for a lifetime. It is passed down from generation to generation. What is so special about a family portrait is that it is a moment captured in time that can never be returned to. It is captured and then we move on, never to return to that moment again. It is such a privilege and honor to be asked to be a part of a wedding or a seniors last year of high school or the creating of the very first images of a child's life. These are precious, precious memories that can never be recreated.
